Replace Missing Teeth with Dental Implants in Victoria, BC

Are you missing one or more teeth? At Vancouver Island Prosthodontics, restoring your smile has never been easier. We’re proud to provide customized dental implants, which could be the perfect way to replace your missing teeth.

Dental implants have many benefits compared to removable full and partial dentures. They offer a permanent, fixed solution which can help you reclaim the confidence that comes from having a complete smile. Dental implants are artificial roots and teeth (usually constructed from titanium) that are surgically placed into your upper or lower jaw bone. The teeth attached to implants are completely natural looking.

What Do Dental Implants Achieve?

Beyond enhancing your smile and instilling you with confidence, dental implants serve many other purposes, including:

  • Replacing one or more missing teeth without altering surrounding teeth
  • Resolving joint pain and bite problems caused by teeth shifting
  • Improving your ability to chew, speak and digest food
  • Enhancing your facial tissues
  • Supporting a bridge or denture, securing them and making them more comfortable

Getting Dental Implants

When you decide to get dental implants from Vancouver Island Prosthodontics in Victoria, you’ll work closely with our team to achieve a radiant smile. Over the course of a few months, you’ll need to visit our office to get X-rays and dental impressions. When the time comes, your mouth will be numbed and your dental implant will be surgically placed into the bone. Following this, you’ll heal for and allow the dental implant to integrate itself. Depending on the type of implant, a second surgery may be necessary to place a “post” that will anchor the implant.

After a few weeks of healing, artificial teeth are made and fitted to the post of the anchor. Several fittings may be required at this stage, so the process may take one to two months to complete. After a healing period, the artificial teeth are securely attached to the implant, providing excellent stability and comfort.

The Vancouver Island Prosthodontics team will work with you every step of the way to keep you updated and informed. Proper oral hygiene, eating habits and regular dental visits will help you safeguard your dental implant for years to come.
